A Concrete Contribution: St Marys Cement Pledges $250,000 to Bowmanville Hospital

BOWMANVILLE, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 – On Friday, September 28, 2018, Bowmanville Hospital Foundation hosted its 32nd Annual Fundraising Gala at the Ajax Convention Centre. Community leaders, donors, volunteers and guests enjoyed a fun-filled evening with all funds going to support the redevelopment and expansion project for Bowmanville Hospital.

St Marys Cement, part of international building materials supplier, Votorantim Cimentos, and the event’s Dinner Sponsor, topped the evening when Vice President of Operations, Fabio Garcia surprised Foundation Board Members, staff and guests when he announced a $250,000 pledge to the Hospital’s redevelopment project. St Marys Cement has been operating in Bowmanville since 1968 and this year is celebrating its 50th Anniversary.  For 21 of those 50 years, St Marys has proudly supported Bowmanville Hospital, Foundation and Gala events.

“We understand the importance of the support and funding the Foundation and Hospital receives from corporations, service clubs, families and individuals,” said Mr. Garcia. “And what that support and funding translates into for healthcare for people and families across Clarington and beyond is priceless. Care requires funding and at St Marys Cement, we are proud to play a part in the delivery of excellent healthcare now and for decades to come.”

“We are incredibly thankful to have such a generous organization within our community,” said Chris Kooy, Board Chair, Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. “St Marys Cement has been part of the landscape of Clarington for decades and in that time, established themselves with diverse connections, community partnerships and generous support for many local charities. The Foundation is very grateful for their commitment to elevate healthcare for the people of Clarington and beyond.”
