Maple Grove United Church Makes Legacy Gift For New Hospital Build

Bowmanville, ON – October 3, 2025 – The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation is honoured to announce a legacy gift from Maple Grove United Church to support the redevelopment of Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital. As part of the church’s charitable commitments, $145,000 has been designated to the hospital’s redevelopment project – an investment that will help transform care close to home for generations.

Maple Grove United Church has been a pillar of the Bowmanville community for more than 150 years. This meaningful gift marks a new chapter for the congregation in its history.

“This gift is a powerful expression of Maple Grove United Church’s enduring heart for Bowmanville,” said Maria Petri, CEO, Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to the congregation for choosing to carry forward their legacy by investing in the health of their neighbours. We will steward this gift with great care and pride.”

Recognizing the congregation’s long history of service and fellowship, the church’s congregation wished to ensure their legacy continues through charitable giving focused on local impact. For many members, including seniors and families, the hospital’s redevelopment holds special meaning as they anticipate greater use of health services in the years ahead.

As Bowmanville Hospital moves forward with the redevelopment plans – adding modern private patient rooms, expanded ambulatory care clinics, a dedicated Eye Care Centre, a Nephrology & Diabetes Centre with haemodialysis, a rooftop helipad, and Level 3 Critical Care capacity – this legacy gift from Maple Grove United Church helps bring these lifesaving enhancements within reach. We are profoundly grateful to the entire congregation for their trust, generosity, and enduring commitment to care close to home. Their support will be felt by patients and families across Clarington and the Durham Region for generations.
