We Care, We Can: Community Support Drives Record-Breaking Year for Bowmanville Hospital Foundation

Bowmanville, ON January 19, 2026 – The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation is proud to announce that 2025 was a milestone year for third-party fundraising, with over $200,000 raised towards the We Care, We Can campaign. This remarkable achievement is proof that the Clarington community is energized and ready to rally behind the once-in-a-generation rebuild of the Bowmanville Hospital.

These efforts were driven by the We Care, We Can Awareness Initiative, launched in 2022 to invite local businesses, residents, and community groups to use their platforms and creativity to raise funds and awareness for the campaign. In 2025, the Foundation was chosen as the beneficiary for 58 community fundraising events, helping to advance plans for life-saving equipment and move the hospital’s redevelopment forward. A few highlights include:

  • Parts 4 Less U-Pull, a sister company of Dom’s Auto Parts, gave every entry fee from May 1 to October 30, generating $10,415 for the campaign.
  • The Rotary Club of Courtice turned movie night into a mission for care, selling out a private screening of Now You See Me, Now You Don’t 3 and raising $4,000 for local health care.
  • Courtice Family Dentistry made every smile count, contributing 10% of cleanings from June 1 to August 31, raising a total of $4,500.
  • Teerth Panchal of Restored Auto Detailing dedicated his summer between medical school terms to host an annual car wash, which raised over $1,100 towards the campaign.
  • Residents at Clarington Place Fieldgate Retirement Living embraced the season of giving, collecting $1,055 through their holiday market to benefit local care.

These initiatives not only raised vital funds but also created memorable moments that brought people together around a shared vision: a purpose-built hospital that will serve patients and families for generations to come.

“We wanted to do something that brought people together while supporting a cause that truly matters to our members and our neighbours,” said Connor Visser, President, Rotary Club of Courtice. “By supporting Bowmanville Hospital, we’re helping ensure families in our own community have access to the care they need, and that’s a responsibility we’re proud to share.”

“2025 was an incredible year for the Awareness Initiative, with local businesses stepping up to support the campaign in meaningful ways,” said Pankaj Panchal, Chair, We Care, We Can Awareness Initiative. “Their engagement shows how much our community values local health care. We’re eager to see even more neighbours, organizations, and businesses join us in 2026, ready to make a lasting impact.”

“Seeing our community come together for this campaign has been truly inspiring,” said Maria Petri, CEO, Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. “The dedication and generosity of our community reveals the spirit that has sustained the Foundation for 50 years. As we celebrate this milestone, we are excited to carry this momentum forward at a pivotal time in Bowmanville Hospital’s history.”

In addition to these fundraising achievements, 2025 also brought key milestones for the redevelopment: the release of the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the new hospital and an enabling project to help prepare the site for construction, bringing the rebuild another step closer to reality.

The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to the individuals, businesses, and organizations who found a meaningful way to support the We Care, We Can campaign in 2025. As the Foundation marks its 50th year, this growing momentum reflects both the strength of what has been built and the shared responsibility of shaping what comes next – because when a community rallies together, anything is possible.
