Mary Mogford: A Philanthropic Champion

Dear Community Members,

The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation is honoured to recognize a remarkable individual who has made an extraordinary impact on our community through her unwavering support and generous donations. Please join us in celebrating Mary Mogford, a philanthropic champion whose commitment to healthcare has transformed countless lives.

Transforming Lives, One Donation at a Time

Since 2001, Mary Mogford has been recognized for her generosity in our community. Her unwavering dedication to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation has spanned over more than two decades, during which she has consistently demonstrated her belief in the power of healthcare philanthropy.

Mary and her late husband Tom Campbell’s contributions to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation have been nothing short of remarkable. They have jointly donated a total of more than $235,000 through multiple campaigns like “Back the Cat” which was geared towards supporting a new CT Scanner. Mary shared how Tom was determined to help our hospital with its highest priority at that time.” So, when we learned that the existing scanner was 40 years old, our decision was easy!  Since then, it has been heartwarming to hear from friends and acquaintances who are entering the scanner room that seeing our names on the little plaque outside calms them down and makes them feel better.”  Mary’s most recent donation of $25,000 has been allocated directly to the We Care, We Can campaign. Over the years, their generous donations have been influential to our Foundation as we continue our vision of inspiring exceptional giving through a legacy of philanthropy.

Inspiring Others to Give

Beyond her personal contributions, Mary Mogford has been instrumental in inspiring others to join the cause. Through her involvement in various events and community outreach programs, Mary has helped raise awareness about the critical role played by the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation in improving healthcare for our community.

Mary believes she has been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to make contributions in the public, private and charitable sectors in Canada over many years.

Mary has held many important roles across various organizations including Deputy Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources for Ontario. Her corporate directorships included: Credit Suisse Canada; Falconbridge; Empire Company; MDS; PotashCorp; Midland Walwyn; and Sears Canada. She was also an active member of many not-for-profit boards including SickKids; Trent University; the Economic Council of Canada; and the Toronto Symphony Foundation.  In 2016, Mary and Tom, established The Mogford Campbell Family Chair in Paediatric Clinical Neuroscience at SickKids Hospital.   She is now very active in advocacy and support for Dying With Dignity Canada, MAiDHouse and SickKids.
