Generosity of Bowmanville and Newcastle Lions Clubs Brings Lifesaving Surgical Equipment to Bowmanville Hospital

The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation expresses deep gratitude to the Bowmanville
Lions Club and Newcastle Lions Club for their extraordinary generosity and commitment to the We Care, We Can campaign. Thanks to their contributions, the Foundation is one step closer to acquiring a Laparoscopic Tower and Laparoscopic Instrument Set, essential equipment that will enhance surgical care at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital.

The Bowmanville Lions Club and Newcastle Lions Club’s past donations of $250,000 and $70,000, respectively, made them eligible for a matching grant from Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). With the first installment of $149,267.80 from LCIF secured, this critical investment in surgical care is now within reach.

“This donation is a shining example of how local service clubs make a lasting impact in their
communities,” said Maria Petri, CEO, Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. “The Bowmanville Lions Club and
Newcastle Lions Club have been unwavering supporters of Bowmanville Hospital, and their leadership in
securing this funding will enhance surgical care for years to come.”

“The Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. LCIF empowers Lions to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need. I believe that providing updated medical equipment to our hospitals and health care providers fulfills not only our mission statement but the very goal of our foundation.” said Don Radnor, District Coordinator for the Lions of Canada Fund for LCIF in District A3.

“I’m thrilled that our Lions Clubs could bring this project together, to receive the Lions International
Matching Grant to support our hospital in our community. It shows the power of our Lions Clubs and
members!” said Heather Griffin of the Newcastle Lions Club.

The addition of this Laparoscopic Tower and Laparoscopic Instrument Set will allow Bowmanville Hospital to perform more minimally invasive procedures, helping patients recover faster, closer to home. The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the Bowmanville Lions Club, Newcastle Lions Club, and Lions Clubs International Foundation for making this gift possible. Their dedication to building a stronger, healthier community is inspiring.
