TV BINGO Nights “Buy A Bed” for Bowmanville Hospital

BOWMANVILLE, Wednesday, January 30, 2019
– On Wednesday, January 30, Nick Arts, Larry Van Acker, Michael Sullivan and Alf Connolly of the Knights of Columbus Council #6361 presented Andrea Russell, Chief Development Officer and Frank Cerisano, Chief Executive Officer, Bowmanville Hospital Foundation, with a cheque for $5,000. This gift was raised through the group’s 2018 TV Bingo Nights and will be directed to the Foundation’s “Buy A Bed” Fundraiser for the purchase of a new hospital stretcher and mattress for the Bowmanville site.

As one of the Knights of Columbus Council #6361’s largest fundraising contributors, TV Bingo Nights take place on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. on Rogers TV. The first TV Bingo Night began on November 15, 1978, when Bowmanville’s Council #6361 partnered with Oshawa Councils #2671 and #6052 for their first telecast. Since then, the games have grown in popularity and now welcome players to tune in across Durham Region, from Newcastle to Pickering.

The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation has been one of Council #6361’s charities of choice for many years, supporting many of the Foundations initiatives, including the Tee Off Fore Health Golf Tournaments and annual fundraising Galas.

“The Knights of Columbus Council #6361 has a long-standing history of supporting the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation,” said Mr. Arts, Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus Council #6361. “We are proud to be affiliated with the Foundation and the work they do for our community. Bowmanville Hospital offers vital care for our members and their families, and for that, we are pleased to include them as one of our charities of choice.”

“We are so fortunate to have the support of the Knights of Columbus Council #6361,” said Ms. Russell. “Year after year, they exemplify what it means to be true community partners. By supporting the “Buy A Bed” Fundraiser, their generous gift to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation will have an immediate impact on the delivery of patient-centered care and for that, we are very grateful.”
