Canadian Union of Skilled Workers Champions Local Healthcare with $50k Contribution
Bowmanville, ON – June 5, 2025 – The Bowmanville Hospital Foundation is proud to recognize the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers (CUSW) as a dedicated community partner in the We Care, We Can campaign. With a generous $50,000 contribution and their role as a Derby Sponsor for the upcoming Racing for Health Gala, CUSW is playing a key role in supporting the redevelopment of Bowmanville Hospital.
As an organization grounded in fairness, equity, and community-building, CUSWʼs support reflects a shared belief in improving access to quality care for families across Clarington.
“Weʼre proud to partner with the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation in support of a project that will benefit the entire community,” said Jon Fry, representative of the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers. “Our members live and work in Clarington and across Canada, and we believe in doing our part to help ensure access to quality care, close to home. It’s about building strong foundations – for our families, our workplaces, and our communities.”
The We Care, We Can campaign is raising vital funds for the rebuild and equipment needs of Bowmanville Hospital. Expected to be twice it’s current size, the new hospital will help to enhance patient care, expand critical services, and introduce new facilities such as an expanded ER department, new Ambulatory Care Centre and Dialysis units.
“The support from CUSW reflects the kind of leadership and commitment to community that makes progress possible.” said Maria Petri, CEO of the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. “We’re grateful for their investment in the health and well-being of Clarington.”
