From Neighbours to Partners: GEMTEC Invests in Local Health Care

When GEMTEC Consulting celebrated the opening of its new Bowmanville office in April 2026, it marked more than just a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It reflected something deeper taking shape in Clarington: a growing company choosing not only to work in the community, but to invest in its future.
In that spirit, GEMTEC announced its $50,000 investment in the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation’s We Care, We Can campaign, in support of a once-in-a-generation redevelopment of Bowmanville Hospital. Their contribution will help bring modern spaces and expanded services to a rapidly growing community that needs its local hospital to keep pace.
Bowmanville Hospital has been a cornerstone of care in Clarington for more than a century. But today, it’s operating within infrastructure that was not built for the scale and complexity of modern health care.
With Durham Region’s population expected to double by 2041, the need for expanded local care is growing quickly. The redevelopment of Bowmanville Hospital will double capacity, modernize clinical spaces, expand essential services, and improve how care is delivered.
For GEMTEC, the decision to support this transformation is rooted in a simple belief: strong communities depend on strong health care. As the engineering consultancy firm continues to grow its presence in Clarington, with more than 40 employees now based in Bowmanville and plans for continued expansion, its investment reflects a commitment to growing alongside the community in a meaningful way.
“As an Employee-Owned Company, we take great pride in the work we do and the positive impact it has on our community and our people. This contribution reflects the genuine commitment of our team, driven by a shared desire to make the places where we live and work better each day. At GEMTEC, we care deeply about this mission, and we are confident that this contribution is a meaningful step toward achieving it,” said Chris Kellestine, Associate Vice President, GEMTEC.
“We are deeply grateful to GEMTEC for their $50,000 commitment to the Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment,” said Maria Petri, CEO of Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. “Their support reflects a thoughtful and timely response to a clear community need. When organizations choose to invest in local health care, they are helping ensure families in Clarington can access the care they need, close to home. We are proud to welcome GEMTEC as a partner in building that future.”
As Clarington continues to grow, contributions like this reflect a broader story across the region: organizations choosing to build alongside the community, not just within it.
